Group members help host World Environmental Education Congress workshop at UBC Farm

On 11 September 2017, attendees of the 9th World Environmental Education Congress visited the UBC Farm as part of the congress’s Community Engagement Day.  Members of the Food Sovereignty Research Group were involved in hosting the day’s activities.  Dana James provided a tour of the UBC Farm, highlighting the wide array of research, teaching, and community activities that happen here.  Victoria Ostenso helped to facilitate the portion of the workshop in which attendees harvested vegetables from the farm to prepare salads for lunch.  Lisa Powell presented a workshop session on “Farm to School Organizing in BC: food literacy as a pathway to food sovereignty.”  Our group members, as well as all of the staff members of the CSFS/UBC Farm who were involved, are grateful to have had the opportunity to host WEEC attendees from around the world (including attendees from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Sweden, United States, and many more countries).
